My Dear Students Applying

Dec 25th, 2009 by admin in Hope, Teaching

to graduate schools…. I am thinking of you every day (and writing festive lovely recommendation letters today, on Christmas Day! It feels like giving presents…………..these words ….but you don’t get to see them!). I am worried: schools are getting record numbers of applicants. Four hundred, six hundred, hundreds of hundreds, and the deadlines are not even here yet! My Hope writers. I have so much hope for you all.

You don’t have to go to graduate school to write.  You still get to write.  Yes, it’s easier, when there’s teachers and students and a bunch of people and buildings who value writing and its craft. Much, much easier.  But you still get to it. And you can help each other.

Today, my thoughts are all with my applying students.   Good luck. You can write!
