Literary Life

- The fabulous students at the Literary Life fall workshop
Last night, I drove my trusty orange truck to Grand Rapids and taught my workshop at Literary Life bookstore, the best little bookstore in the world. Roni Devlin, the owner, has made a vibrant and necessary and astonishing literary center on the corner of Eastern and Wealthy streets. The place is enchanted–warm and welcoming as a living room, with every single book and object hand-picked. You feel you are in someone’s home, and you are. The place is all beauty, and wisdom, and sweetness and truth. We wrote and laughed and wept and made art for two hours as the day turned from perfect to night. It was a perfect evening. You must go to this store.
To my students: I wish you many many delicious melt-away hours of writing! Good luck with your pages. You were such a wonderful class. I loved teaching you!

So right you are to no surprise to me. The bookstore is all you say and the skills you so graciously gave will benefit me for years to come. Thanks to Roni for setting this venue up and to you for your exuberance and wisdom.
