high point today…and little contenders….

Sep 22nd, 2009 by admin in High Point of the Day

When my students in Writing for Teachers went around the room and told me how the writing method we practice is helping them in other classes and real life.  What we are doing–noticing, paying attention, caring–matters so much. It’s changing us, this work, and helping.  Absolutely the high point of the day.

Contenders: walking to school.  Reading the Denis Johnson sonnet with my class. Them telling me how much they loved Orr.  Reading one of their response papers on Orr. “I hope I look that good when I am old.” Being prepared for class. A great use of the letter Y in face book scrabble.  Remembering the concert with Bruce and how much overlap there is between his message and Orr’s message. Dropping off the jelly beans for Amelia.
