is my favorite performer on Earth. I urge you to look her up online and purchase her DVDs and books. Grammy-nominated, super brilliant, a shapeshifting genius poet who sends her poems directly into your soul and bones…you just have to know her work. You have to. She takes what is beautiful and terrifying about human-ness and makes it into something you can hold in your hands.

Minton Sparks, with Allison and Dani Chardonnay, Half Jack
I want her to win a MacArthur genius grant.
She was on our campus this week, and I had to work hard not to let my Southern accent back in–it was whining and scratching at the door and making a nuisance of itself. I want to be Minton.
She said in her town when any member of the writer’s group is asked, “Are yall published?” They say, “No but we are typed up.”
Get her stuff.
Follow her anywhere.
I promise.
