Alyssa Organizes Her Wishes

This was last night.

I love the light at this time of year–look at that sky (just over the orchid, through the window) at 8:30 at night. It’s April and the first day of t-shirts and sandals. My friend Alyssa is getting ready to blow out ten candles. She’s thinking it all through first.

We were celebrating her tenth birthday and we also celebrated my new book contract! (She will get the first copy. )

Tonight is the next night and I am feeling lonesome as a wall. After children in the house, the house seems too big. It looms. I miss all that light from last night so so much.

Tonight, I’m going to light the candles again, and organize my wishes.
